I think Bambara used a bird because it shows to think before you act in a situation. Granny thought before she spoke. Granddaddy Cain thought before he smashed the camera to pieces. I think this is why Bambara used the hawks in her story.

i believe that in "blues aint no mockin bird" that the author used the bird to show a free spirt and an open mind to problems and life in general.

I think he used it to symbolize that when grandaddey killed the hawk that he killed his way of thinkimg befor he made the action of destroying the mans camera. So basicly he didnt think befor he acted because he didnt think befor he took his action. Thats y!

i think that Bambara used the bird and more the hawk because the hawk can move fast and has to not take anything from any other animals. It is just like Granny because she can pack her house and get out of it at any speed.Granny even doesnt have to take anything from anybody or thing

Bird Symbolism in BANMB Stefanie Zapf

One of the main reasons Toni Cade Bambara used the bird as a primary symbol in the text is because the bird represents a positive suggestion. The bird also represents strength in mind and stature, and also how you speak and consciously present yourself. Granny obviously represented this; she had a strong sense of what was right and what was wrong, and she was never afraid to speak her mind.

i think the hawk was used because birds are pretty powerful animals. they may not be big, but they defy the law of gravity. and that's pretty awesome. so when the 'mister cain' character kills one, it's shows how strong and dominant he is. his supremacy. yeah...

To me the bird was used as a symbol because it shows strength, and they also have a positive role in its life. Not only that but it comes out in granny, and mister cain. They are both very strong, and they both are VERY positve role models

i think that toni used a bird as the symbol because birds are free spirited and do not listen to anyone or anything. kinda like how granny acts...

I believe that a bird is used to show symbolism in this story because even thought granny is stern and strong willed she still shows a confident and free sprirt.
and sit shows that everyone in the family has an open mind to life.

i think the author used the bird as symbolism as diffrent attributes for the characters.

Granny because she wasn't afraid to speak her mind to the camera man and is so free like birds are
and Grandaddy because he came home and helped Granny by making Camera and smilin' leave just as the hawk wasn't afraid to swoop in and defend its mate.

Bird Symbolism in "BANMB"

I think that the symbolism of the bird in this short story is the clue that Granddaddy is going to do something kind of amazing or unexpected. This then happens when he throws the hammer at the hawk. This action was not expected and that resulted in Granddaddy smashing the camera.

I think the author used hawks in the story because granny always thinks reflectively and she thinks before she talks. I don't think granny would say something she couldn't back up.

I think Toni used a bird because Granny is a open person. She does not care how she acts! She just has an open mind. Just like a bird does when it is flying. It does not care what it does or where it goes.

i think tht bambara used a bird symbole becuase it showed that the characters were spoken out of their mind, and they sisnt care what someone thought of them. They also handle a situation very well when those guys came into their yard and started filn and talken pictures of thier yard.
